People have always been interested in what the stars can tell us about our character. Whether you read your horoscope every morning or just check it for fun, zodiac signs offer an interesting way to think about personality. There are twelve signs in total, and each one is traditionally linked to a set of typical traits.
Let's start with the first sign of the zodiac: Aries. People born under this sign are usually seen as energetic and bold. They like to take the initiative and are highly assertive when expressing their opinions. Then comes Taurus, a sign associated with stability. Those born under Taurus are remarkably level-headed in a crisis, though they can be famously stubborn and refuse to change their minds.
The next sign is Gemini. Geminis are known for being tactful and clever. They know how to speak to people without upsetting them, but they must learn to think before they speak. Cancer follows Gemini. Cancerians are deeply compassionate, feeling strong sympathy for others. They often go out of their way to help those they care about.
Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac. Leos tend to be incredibly self-assured and proud. They enjoy being in the spotlight and are naturally confident. After Leo comes Virgo. Virgos are conscientious and detail-oriented. They are careful to do things correctly and notice things that others often miss.
Libra is the sign of balance and fairness. Librans are diplomatic and value harmony in relationships. They always try to put themselves in someone's shoes to see both sides of an argument. Scorpio is very different. Scorpios are intense and don't always see eye to eye with others. However, when they promise something, they always follow through on their commitments.
Sagittarius is the adventurer of the zodiac. Sagittarians are optimistic, but they can be impulsive, acting without thinking first. Capricorn is more focused on discipline. Capricorns are resilient individuals who recover quickly from any difficulties and work hard to achieve long-term goals.
The eleventh sign is Aquarius. Aquarians are sceptical about traditional rules; they prefer to keep an open mind and look for original ideas. Finally, there is Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. Pisceans are highly emotional. They can be too cautious because they fear danger, and they sometimes take things personally when they feel misunderstood.
Of course, not everyone fits their sign description perfectly. But learning about the zodiac is a great way to pick up advanced vocabulary and think about character in English.
